Hello there, growers! Happy hump day.
I have a questions I'd like your imput on based on your experience, plus some pictures.
A while ago I saw on a youtube video that it's a good idea to feed the traps on your plant before repotting it. Since you were likely to trigger the traps, might as well give them something to eat while at it. Made enough sense, so thats how I've done it.
However, about two weeks ago I got two new flytraps (couldnt help it, heh) at walmart and I didnt have any mealworms to feed them before repotting them, so I just repotted them without. It all went well.
I have noticed that those traps now look healthier than the previous 3 I got about a month ago which I did feed before repotting. Those 3 look a bit sick (I'm attributing it to transplant shock) but still with some new growth coming so I am confident they will spring back.
What do you think? Is feeding them before repotting them a good idea or rather could it be making the trap more stressed on top of being repotted?
These are the three traps I fed (Cleopatra II, Apollo, and Achilles II)
And these two are the ones I didnt feed (Athena, and Artemis)
It could also all just be that the two new ones were already healthier from the store.
Also, anybody has any idea what this thing is? Lol. It was planted in the same pot as one of the red plants when I received it. I just planted it again in the same pot with the same medium it was in (minus the big flytrap it was with) and its... Growing. But I have no idea what kind of plant is.
Keeping it in the same cage where I'm keeping the flytraps. I covered with some 40% shade cloth to protect them from our intense heat.
Family photo! Happy growing, everybody!
