Yeah, I know. I'm showing my age with that phrase, but still that is what this month's contest is all about. Those tubes of terror, those pipes of peril, those sinister cylinders, SARRAAAACENNNNIAA. (Cue the WWE crowd cheering).

Okay, enough of my goofiness. This month we are looking for sarracenia species only, not hybrids. That means that a S. flava rubricorpa x ornata is fine. It is still a flava. A S. flava x oreophila is not as it is a interspecies cross. Before you think I am ignoring crosses, they get their own special place next month. Back to the contest at hand. In addition to being a photo of a Sarracenia species, the following rules apply:
  1. You can submit 1 photograph for this contest.
  2. It must be your own picture.
  3. Pictures shared in previous contests are not eligible.
  4. Minimally edited photos only. No effects, filters or collages. Cropping is okay.
  5. The winner will be the entry with the highest number of thumbs up (likes) votes.
  6. Only votes from members with at least 5 posts will count.
  7. Members who have won within the past three months are not eligible for prizes but you can still enter.
  8. This contest is open internationally with an alternate prize for the winner.
In keeping with this month's theme, @Matt and Leah from the FlytrapStore are giving away a Sarracenia flava ornata.

From the FlytrapStore website:
S. flava var. ornata "light vening" is a gorgeous variety of Sarracenia flava. This particular clone exhibits "light veining" and can produce pitchers over 30 inches in height with beautiful red veining running the length of the pitchers and into the hood. It also has a very distinctive dark red sploch on the throat of the pitcher. It's a real eye catcher!

Sarracenia flava, also known as the Yellow Trumpet pitcher plant, is a highly-varied species of Sarracenia. S. flava var. ornata varies a lot in the intensity of its veining. This particular clone we're offering displays "light veining" which provides a gorgeous delicate tracing of the primary veins on the pitchers.

Sarracenia flava var. ornata produces bright yellow flowers in the spring as it puts up its first pitchers of the year. Like all S. flava, most of the growth occurs in spring and early summer, tapering off by fall.

Alright, let's see those pitcher pictures, and get ready to rumble!

I'll get this one started. I've been accused (rightfully so) of being partial to purps. So despite having an absolutely gorgeous venosa to show, I'm posting my equally stunning Sarracenia alata 'Night'.

My totally neglected mini bog of Michigan northern sarracenia purpurea ssp. purpurea. Frog socks or turtle socks nicknames. I ❤️ that they are so resistant. I had to pull a few weeds for the photo but there will be hundreds of seeds for the bank this fall :D
