Hey all,
Last year, I was at my local nursery, and saw trays of large sarracenia, labeled purpurea. I picked one and brought it home. This year, early spring, it has flowered, and I was wondering if it was S. Rosea, as it grew quite a short stalk, and it has pink inner petals. Do you think it’s rosea, or is it just purpurea?

Ah, an Xtreem "purpurea". My favorite nursery in the area gets a bunch of Xtreem pitcher plants. Those purpurea's are either pure-blooded rosea's or purpurea x rosea hybrids. I bought 3 from the nursery when the plants were small; I thought they were chubby lil' purps. This is what I have now:

I'm not complaining, mind you, but these are not purpurea's.

This was the shipment that arrived while I was there: Cobra Nest, Meerkat Mob, White Wizard, and the pseudo-purpurea's.
