Honestly, all of my binatas, except for dichotoma look that way when they are very small. Only once it starts to get bigger will it start to divide more at the tips if it is a multifida.

Ditto. All of mine look that way when they are young. You probably wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Even binata 'Marston Dragon' and multifida f. extrema look that way when they are young.
