I planted a couple dozen U. alpina seeds in a chopped LFSM and Perlite mix a few weeks ago and I'm now seeing some sprouts. There are just five seedlings but it's a start.
I read that growing alpina from seed is a slow process. Are there any others here who have tried growing U. alpina from seeds?

I tried to find pics of alpina seedlings, but no luck. So for all I know, these guys could just be weeds or grasses that were in the LFSM. Time will tell.

Kinda looks like grass. You'll know in a bit if it keeps growing like grass or the leaves widen out.

Yeah, my thoughts, too. All five are the same in appearance. I understand that it can take a month or more to germinate alpina seeds; patience is required.

I was among the first to sow these in late August, and I haven't seem anything yet. However, with other Utrics, they seemed to take a few months before they showed.

What media/conditions are you using? I have my pot in an enclosed seedling tray with high humidity, temp is a constant 70 °F.

Peat/perlite, topped with chopped LFSM. Ambient temps of ~70°F, but windowsill for now, but it had direct sunlight and up to 95°F when sown.

As suspected, these are most likely some wild grasses that were mixed in the LFSM. I'll yank them and wait to see if the U. alpina seeds sprout.

Yes. There's another thread that shows some sprouts. Now, they're not 100% confirmed to not be weeds, but given the time frame, it's likely that they're alpina.

I've been hunting around for more info on alpina sprouts. I found an older thread on Terraforums (iirc) that describes the seedlings as looking like grass leaves. Fortunately, I saved the grass-like sprouts in a catch-all pot and I've replanted them in the alpina pot.
There are a couple of things that popped up in the alpina pot that may be alpina sprouts. We'll see...

We're all pretty confident that the first pics are not "grass-like sprouts", they're grass. That last pic looks promising though.

Yeah, the wider leaves in that pic are more like what I expected to see with alpina sprouts. I'm sure the grasses are just weeds, but they look nice.
