I purchased 3 packs of Sarrs seeds from Flytrapking.com a couple months ago. I cold stratified them for 8 weeks as is recommended then placed on top of LFSM under my Mars Hydro light. Now, don't get me wrong, the Mars Hydro light has been serving it's purpose for several months now. However, I was a little concerned that they were not sprouting after several weeks. I have been in the process of upgrading to 2 24"x24"x48" Grow tents and placed a 4 shelf unit in each one. I have the Mars Hydro in one tent and my second Vivosun Smart 200w light in the other. These are each mounted to the very top of the grow tents. I have 3 of https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093R6NVYY?re ... tails&th=1 under shelf 1,2 and 3. (I know, get to the point, right?) Low and behold, be it coincidence or not, ALL of my seed sets have started to sprout. I am over joyed about this as I was wondering whether or not these lights would work for germinating specifically.

I wonder if the Mars Hydro was generating too much heat. I can't remember if I ever sprouted sarrs under my Mars Hydro. Usually I sprout them on a windowsill with little direct sunlight.

I did not know that was possible but I guess it could be. I will keep that for established plants now until I get time to experiment with same media, etc. and see how it goes.
I am currently monitoring the temp on the top shelf and with a fan I am able to keep it just around 85-86 degrees which I think is perfect. Without the Mars Hydro in one tent and the Vivosun Smart light in the other, the temp drops below 80 degrees so I am using a fan to cool down the top shelf and that keeps the other shelves just above 80 degrees. The bottom shelves come in just under 80 degrees so I have different options depending on the seeds/seedlings needs.

Does this sound like a viable solution to germinate seeds and grow seedlings/starts?
