Keep the ladder handy! The HG bloom stalk is currently measuring 27" - the first flowers opened about the 4-5 July, and I've been dabbing at them with a paintbrush every few days (and storing the brush in the fridge in between).

This is one that lived in a 3 inch pot for a couple of years until I got up the nerve to repot it. It is now in a 5 1/2 inch pot and I got several single pitcher divisions which are showing promise.

All of these look great! I hope my "Charles Brewer's" pulls through with the sulfur dusting I gave it so I can post some pictures here. It's newest pitcher was starting to develop more color on it, too.

Ceph can be really moody from time to time, triggered by conditions or maybe being looked at the wrong way. Mine looks like its half foot through the heavens gate with all them cooking actions but the flowers are getting there so not too worried. Image

So @ Nocturne posted a while back about adding 2 to 3 Osmocote "At the Base". I am assuming you mean the base of the plant, correct? Or add in too water.

Bump, so as not to get lost in the midst of things.

I decided to repot my EB a few months ago as it was coming out of dormancy, here's how the roots looked like:

At the time of repot I had an issue over dormancy where I let it dry out too much and all the pitchers dropped off, so it had like no pitchers at all and only a few tiny leaves. Here it is today recovering from the repot and that dry spell but still sulking since the current pitchers are still smaller than before:

And here's a Hummer's Giant, I can never seem to get the 2 inchers, but it also seems like I'm giving too much light as most big HG pitchers I see are all green.

Very interesting - I've barely gotten a blush on my HG. I've had decent growth, haven't necessarily been trying to color it up, but maybe I'll notch the light up this year. All you folks with dark-ruby cephs are also making me want to try and find different types!

And, on another note ... we have seeds!!!!! Such funky, feather-like seeds (see mid-frame in the not-so-great-pic). I can tell that there are seed capsules ripening on other flowers. Checking my dates up above, I'd say 4-6 weeks for seeds?

Edit: ha-the original pic I attached was NOT even pictures of a ceph flower. Fixed now.

My Ceph is finally not just a baby anymore. I put him on a lower shelf that is not as warm as the others yet still gets good filtered light and just left him on his own, watering as needed. Took a little bit but I am very impressed of this accomplishment since they can be temperamental. Also, I feed all my greenhouse plants flightless fruit flies a couple times a month so I am pretty sure that had something to do with it. The bottom pic is darker since it was taken in Macro mode. Should be able to zoom in REALLY close!
Can anyone tell by looking at him which version of Ceph he is? I bought from CPN and am waiting to hear back from Colin but thought I would ask. I am thinking of getting other species so I need to know what I already have.
