Seen growing on a seeping cliff face at a high elevation along the Blue Ridge Parkway in July. Really cool to see in the wild!

That's cool, I wouldn't expect to see them that far south. Always thought of them as a "far north" species.

This particular site is at a pretty high elevation in the Blue Ridge which shares many aspects of their typical habitat in those more typical northern locations. There are actually quite a few interesting plant species in the blue ridge that are quite common throughout southern Canada and the northern US, and then have a broken distribution with their southernmost populations being at high elevation sites in NC/TN/VA.
