I had never heard of this place until MikeB mentioned that they are in North Carolina and sell oreophila. Well, my in-laws live in NC so, yep, I ordered one. I also ordered some live moss. First, let me talk about the moss. His description on the website tells you that there are likely to be hitchhikers of all sorts in the moss. He sent me enough moss to top 4 #1 nursery pots, and there were indeed hitchhikers. In one section of moss I counted 8 sarr seeds of which two were already sprouting. Alas, I forgot to take pictures of the moss but some of it is topping the first sarr picture.

About the oreo. I ordered a medium. What I got was not what I would call a medium bit has 2 growth points and the overall rhizome was about 4 inches long. I chopped off 2 inches to root in another pot. This is what it looks like after the post office crammed an 8x10 padded envelope into a 4x5 post office box.

As if that wasn't enough, there was a bonus. He (I say he but I really don't know) also sent me a division of Sarracenia 'Abandoned Hope's! And not a puny, throw away division.mind you, a chunky, large division. And all of this for super reasonable prices. I will definitely be shopping there again.

Since Panman is dropping names, I'll show my recent purchases from Bleux Exotics in Concord, North Carolina.

That's an 8-inch / 20-centimeter pot. I couldn't get an accurate count on the number of growth points (it's a lot).

Another 8-inch / 20-centimeter pot (I wanted to give it plenty of room to grow). Chunky rhizome, 3 growth points, massive root system.

Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea, large

A 10-inch / 25-centimeter pot this time. 10 growth points. :o I can't wait to see all of the red pitchers this summer!

Bonus plants:
  • Sarracenia 'Hank'
  • Sarracenia 'Mountain Splendor' (oreophila x rubra ssp. jonesii)
  • Two gobs of live sphagnum moss, donating it to Carnies.
Tyler has some nice plants, not a ton of variety (he's thinning out his resin-barrel bog gardens). His prices are nice, more in line with what I saw 4-5 years ago.

You weren't kidding.
I ordered two "Scarlet Belle"'s, they sent four. Three are good size, one smaller. Plus they sent a clump of S. NO ID, but it has like 50 small pitchers already.
Yeah, these guys are on my short list of "Heck yes!"

It was pure luck that I spotted Tyler's post in the trade/sale thread in the SavageGarden sub on Reddit. He said that he had so many Sarracenia to thin out that an online store was the best way to handle it.

If you make a purchase from Bleux Exotics, be sure to post a review there. Since he's just starting out, Tyler would like some feedback for other potential customers to read.
