Why would this happen? It was an old tendril but I would still expect it to form a proper pitcher. Right?

If there was a sudden change in conditions, that could do it. Happened to one of my Nepenthes when I moved it from the greenhouse it was raised in to the dimmer and less well ventilated grow space I had it in for a bit. I've now given it better conditions and we'll see what happens.

I've also had a case where a tendril began to develop a pitcher but stopped, and several new leaves (and pitchers) in, nothing about that tendril has changed.
