Hi, what is wrong with my Sarracenia Purpurea? This plant has been in my collection for four years. Why is not growing no more? It started to wake up this spring and is there winter damage? They live outdoors all year around.

That looks like root rot. You need to check the rhizome. Plus, the seeds shouldn't be ripe yet. The flower stalk looks like it has dried out. If it is rhizome rot, at this point it is likely a goner.

What did the rhizome look like? Ignore the roots, they are the last part to die and sarrs won't come back from that. Of the rhizome is at all mushy, you need to trim off any brown parts. If lost two plants to rhizome rot this summer. It comes with the territory.

You have my sympathies. Rhizome rot is insidious. The rot spreads along the rhizome and cuts off water flow to the pitchers. By the time they shrivel and droop, the rot has already undermined the growth point. Like Panman, I too lost a couple Sarracenia this year due to rhizome rot, and I'm keeping a close eye on my big pot of Hummer's Hammerhead because it's looking suspicious right now.

I suggest stratifying at least a few and attempt to germinate them to see if the seeds fully developed.
