There are claims that you can make a tincture out of VFT's, one that cures all of your ills. Hogwash if you ask me.
I remember an article where Matt was interviewed early on in his foray into carnivorous plants, where he was approached by one of these snake oil sellers. The charlatan offered to buy every VFT that Matt could produce, but was turned down. Matt has a passion for the plants, not just a desire to make some cheddar.

I remember browsing the internet and seeing something for "venus flytrap extract" for things like curing caner. VFTs grow in nutrient poor soil and can't produce nitrates, so I don't know how they'd be nutritious or have some magic property that would somehow cure cancer.

God knows if any part of them is edible or worth eating (unless you're a bug).
