I was at the store earlier looking at peat moss and I came across a bag of black gold peat. The only ingredients were peat and wetting agent. Is wetting agent bad for CPs? I mean I know what it does but I’m not sure what it is exactly.

Depends on what the setting agent is. Mineral wetting agents are usually clay, brick dust, or zeolite which can all be harmful. Synthetic wetting agents are usually a type of soap, ionic compound, or even ions themselves. Ions are metals, and most metals are salts. Ionic compounds contain salts, think NaCl, sodium chloride, table salt. Not good. A natural agent is best because that's usually coco coir or an extract from yucca.
Best to find out what the wetting agent is before you buy.

I burned through a 3.8-cubic-foot bag of Black Gold peat moss last year. It doesn't have a wetting agent.

Black Gold peat moss plus has an organic wetting agent. Aloe vera comes to mind, but I'm not 100% sure.

Two years ago, I bought 4 bags of peat moss plus and used it with my plants. They had no complaints about it.
