I potted up a few fig tree sprouts that were layered and rooted. They are in 2 gallon pots with (yeck) potting soil and being transported back to North Carolina where their original stock is from. The parent plant here came from a cutting from my wife's grandfather's tree in North Carolina. Fast forward about 20 years and it is time for some of it to return to her aunts' houses.

God I love figs!
I brought a cutting back with me from… cough cough… someone brought a cutting back from Italy and when I planted it here in Florida it took off. The funny thing is it needs a rest period but Florida winters hardly give it that. So it grew straight up. Not bushed out like it should be, but literally one or two branches about 25 feet straight up. The figs get large but open up before ripe as our summers have afternoon rain showers. Lessons learned include enjoying the tree for its beauty, and buying my Italian figs online or at the market. You can’t mess with Mother Nature…
