Okei so I've finally taken the step to LED lighting for my plants... I just think its the cheapest , most effective way of giving my plants enough light here in my dorm room!

So I've managed to create a growing light of sorts with a few LED strips and some extra wire and tape....(hopefully it stays intact). I dont know any of the LEDs' specifications . All I know is that they were pretty cheap. Hopefully that wont impact their performance too much. Anywhoo... I'm wondering if I should try and get the plants closer to the lights or not? Im still going to improve my little system, I just want to know if my plants should get any closer?ImageImage

Without knowing any specs, it's difficult to offer advice. You'll just have to see how the plants react to the light and adjust accordingly.

Great! Haha serves me well for being too cheap! :D

But yeah....my plants will soon be going dormant anyways...so I guess I'll stick some sundews under those LEDs and see how they do! Should be a fun experiment.

Just a suggestion.

I use an android app on my phone called "Lux Light Meter" to measure the light intensity for my plants. Without getting into detailed debate about the app giving different results for different phones, it can be used to get an approximate/ball park estimate of the light level for your grow situation, then compared with the ball park light levels of other growers, outside levels during various types of weather and other situations. It should give you a good idea, at least, as to whether your lighting situation is adequate especially when the same app is used by others. It's free.

I sent it in the mail yesterday
