A couple years ago I tried tissue culture and was successful with a few of the jars not being contaminated. I forgot the terminology but the nutrients you mix with agar and pour into the bottles - how long does that last for? I have quite a few jars I never used with the mixture in the bottom. None are contaminated. Could I try tissue culturing with those left over from years past or best to just start over.

Also the powder, and chemicals to make the "gel" with I have kept in the refrigerator. Is there a shelf life on those as well?

A premixed powder (I assume that you are talking about the nutrient mix) will last for a long time if kept refrigerated and sealed so that moisture is not sucked into it. Fresh premixed powder will be a cream color. I have used slightly yellowed mix with no issues. If very yellow or cakey, I would not use.
