I was thinking about getting some artificial lights to help some of my plants through the short days of the Scottish winter, and was just wondering what the best / sufficient set up would be.

If I had a twin 2ft fluorescent (2 tubes), what sort of wattage / lumen should I be looking for in a single tube.

Would I be better going for CFL's? If so can anyone say where, if in the U.K to find a supplier of high watt bulbs?

Thanks for any advice,

Darren

FYI:

I have 2 cape sundews and a VFT, but might take in another VFT over the winter.

Thanks for the info, out of curiosity would using that set-up be any different from using 2x Fluorescent T5 24w Daylight with a standard fitting (not taking into account the efficiency of the reflector?

That link you posted just timed out for me

2x 24 watt wouldnt be as powerful as the smaller 4 tube 2 foot i use as it has 4x24w tubes giving 6600 lumens

you might get around 3000 lumens so you would have to have it inches from your plants
