I notice in the last week my plant is turning black.

It was growing fine a month ago. Nothing has changed. Distilled water, Full sun etc.

I notice the weather is becoming cooler as its nearly winter in New Zealand.

My plant doesn't seem to look so well.

Any idea what the problem might be? Repot it?

Looks like it's going dormant, it's D.filiformis right? Don't water it too much, if the winters are mild then you can leave it outside

Nope nothing like that.

I decided to repotted since it may have been someone at the hostel doing something to the plant.

I carefully took the plant out. Wash the roots with tap water. Replace the soil with Peat and spaghnum moss.

I wet the soil with distilled water and its sitting in a small container of water.

Yes.There's no fertiliser.
I used the same soil as the one I used for my venus fly trap and it grew well. I bought it off a garden supplier who scooped it from a bag
