The elodea that I added had snail eggs on it, so now I have snails AND Triops.
These eggs are from the "Triassic Triops Envelope Kit" and they are in a 10 gallon aquarium.
They are currently laying TONS of eggs in the pea gravel!!!

They are about 28 days old.
When they hatched they were 0.5mm long, and now they are like 350 mm long (these pics are from Wednesday, and they are much larger now).

They are so hard to photograph because they are CONSTANTLY swimming about and moving!!

Please post your comments!!

Wow Banana, they look great. I don't think I have ever seen them so large before. You should send me some eggs in an envelope and let me grow your babies ;)

I absolutely love triops - they are so hilariously cute. I miss mine =/ though their eggs are drying out in another room right now so in future I may hatch some more. Well done with them and I hope they give you endless hours of enjoyment!

Nice pics! I miss my Triops. They all died after a few months. :P Maybe I'll try again.

Temperature has a great impact in aquatic organism specially the small ones like Triops.

For example, just think about this, larvae which is aquatic and then changes to a mosquitoe, if the water is cold it will take far more time for it to transform into a mosquitoe. Or a fly for example if during the egg stage before hatching the temperatures are very high, the fly will hava a mutation of some sort. A shrimp, if a shirmp is put in warm water it will produce male shrimps, but if it is put in cold water, then it changes to female and it will produce female shirmps.

So if cold it won't probably hatch and died. If hot, then it will hatch and survive if my guess. Also a good experiment would be raising the temps high and keeping some in cold water to see how both groups react! ;)

Brad I think you meant 4.5 inches. Thats what the ebay auction says... but they are really neat, I might try growing them again.
