Hey everyone,
Is Mosser Lee LFSM safe for CP’s?

Thanks!

There is better to be had. Check out Better-Gro "Orchid Moss" or Better-Gro "Long Fiber Sphagnum". Stay away from all Miracle-Gro stuff.

Have heard that recommendation, but unfortunately not sold at my Home Depot.

I’ve used Mosser Lee. It’s kinda junky and turns to mush fairly quickly when chopped, but the seeds I started using it as a top-dressing are all doing well, and I haven’t had any algae in the pots I used it in. That could also be because the ML I used was several years old. Anyway, it’s safe. But…you can order Better-gro on Amazon.

I agree with the above, Mosser lee is some pretty low quality stuff and rots fairly quickly in my experience and is pretty rank. You might be able to find Gubler orchid moss or better-gro orchid moss at lowes, as that's typically where I get mine. They both seem to be the same quality but I prefer better-gro if given the opportunity. Mosser lee can be used if its all you can get but I would steer clear.

Safe? Yes.

Worth the money? Definitely not.

This is 6 bucks a bag at Lowe's and much better quality:

I guess Home Depot gets extra for delivery. I just checked and they have a 2-pack for $17 and change, plus tax, but free(?) shipping. Lowes is definitely the place to get it. And usually there's a Lowe's somewhere in the same town as a Home Depot is...though I can say the reverse of that is true.

Mosser Lee is garbage. It’s cheap for a reason…a good example of getting what you paid for.

Checked online on Lowe's website, but they don't have it in stock either.

It's listed on both Ebay and Amazon.

EDIT: FYI This is the stuff I use http://www.ebay.com/itm/265360377950?

Actually they have both, I think..."Orchid Moss" and "Long Fibered Sphagnum Moss". Orchid Moss is the premium grade and "Long Fibered". They are listed under the same listing and have an option for picking between the two...the Orchid Moss is listed as "Fine" and the Long Fibered as "Coarse".
