From what I can tell hurrelliana was considered to be synonymous with mollis and thus they were merged. They are visibly indistinct but there was some controversy on whether they are from hybrid origin that has now evolved into its own species. The plant known as mollis was described in 1925 whereas hurrelliana was described in 2003, the variation denotes that plants from mt murud were more attractive and were designated hurrelliana. mollis was originally described without seeing pitchers and taxonomy is based on precedence however minute it may be.
