I would be interested to see what would happen if they were grown under more intense light. My reds are solid red. Big Pink has blushing new growth and red older growth. My albas get a blush on the tentacles. Standard capes have green petioles and red tentacles. Is it possible that the longer petioles are simply the result of less light?

Reds un the back, Big Pink in the middle, wide leaf in the front.

Those are pretty good ones. :) You might want to swap out that pie tin for a plastic tray, though. The acid from the peat moss might make some ugly metals available to the plants. I also go by the moniker "OCD-Me", so take what I say with a clod of salt. ;)

It's certainly possible, but it does not explain why the 'Red' is roughly 2x the size of 'Big Pink' and 'Wide Leaf' when they are grown side to side.
Not to mention, I crossed the 'Red' with 'Wide Leaf' and all the offspring are significantly larger that 'Wide Leaf' which seems to suggest that this is a genetic thing...

Since you guys wanted pictures, here's a quick comparison.
Left to right: "'Red' x 'Wide Leaf'", 'Big Pink', 'Mini Red'. No picture of the 'Red' because it's too hard to get to - but it's roughly the same size as the "'Red' x 'Wide Leaf'" seedling, maybe slightly larger.

Also apologies for the bad lighting and poor photo quality.

My Mini Red is about the same size. That middle one is about the average size. But that one on the left is bigger than any other I've seen.
Maybe that size is somewhat common, but I don't recall seeing one that size before.

I was reading some about the Professor Konig cape "somewhere" and it said that it was a larger cape...long leaved. Maybe thepitchergrower's plant has some of that DNA in it????

So maybe pitchergrower's is a laid back Konig that's wanting to lounge around? :P

I'm 99% sure that it has no König DNA. The parents were 'Wide Leaf' (Cal Carn Clone) that I got from Shadowtski, and the mysterious big 'Red' plant. That cape cross is very vigorous, and is pushing out a flower stalk for the first time, so if anyone has König (or something similar) flowering we could arrange some sort of pollen trade.
That plant's sibling has already flowered and is making seed, but unfortunately, that plant is not as large.

I'm curious, what defines a "Giant" cape? This (https://cpn.carnivorousplants.org/artic ... 73_180.pdf) ICPS article considers plants that are 11 inches across to be giant. However, this (http://www.growsundews.com/sundews/Dros ... ensis.html) doubtfully states that the "true" giant form might be able to reach up to 60 cm (23 inches).

How does one differentiate the various 'Red" […]
