I just bought me first of these kind and I don’t know how to help it. The store I got it from had them in the shade so that may be the reason. It’s in a few cm of rain water and in direct sunlight but I’m not sure if I should be doing anything else.

I’m new here and don’t know much

It looks like it has dried out at some point, probably at the store. Stand it in rain water give it as much full sun as possible, and if it didn't dry out for too long, it may well come back from the rhizome.

Good luck
