Hi all,

I need some help with my pings. I have them indoors, under grow lights for 6 hours and they get windowsill sunlight for 3-4 hours. They are bottom watered.

I don't know why they have holes in them. I have pictures of them attached.

And is my tiny ping normal? The petals are stretched up.

Thank you,
Emma

6 hours is WAY too small, IME. Pings are from desert-y areas in Mexico. That's a LOT of sun. I keep mine under 13 hours and they do quite fine. I even keep some with my Helis and they love it.

Second problem - Tray watering. It looks as if you have a 1:1 or 2:1 mix of peat and perlite. I keep mine in 1:5, except for Pingyuicula Gigantea, which likes a touch more water in it's habitat. The excessive water is what's causing your leaves to rot.

Well drained, sandy or perlite media should ensure your pings are happy.

Repotting pings is no problem, I rip 'em out every week to take pullings. Their roots are very weak.

Oooooh thank you!! I'll have my lights on for 12 hours then. And I guess have the soil dry out or just repot it all together. Will try to experiment for this week! Will they do good in a terrarium? I have a glass jar that I've been meaning to use.

They do have very tiny roots, so different from VFTs. I have to be careful for repots 😅

why don't you leave them outside in the shade.

Mexican pinguicula are not desert plants, but rather limestone or gypsum area often cliffs,
not all besides as we can see it here with moranensis
http://www.pinguicula.org/A_world_of_Pi ... ard_19.htm

what do you have as a species i see moranensis but what else?
you can perfectly use for moranensis peat and river sand 50/50 especially always keep the substrate moist except from October to May

for me ping are not terrarium plants, they need to grow prey
