For those of us in the northern hemisphere, summer is over and the cooler weather is moving in. Most of our outdoor plants are getting ready for their winter's nap so it is time to shift our endeavors from outdoors to indoors. This month, we would like to see your indoor setups. While the plants are still the stars of the show, we want to see the actual setup. If you can give details on what we see in the photographs, even better. It may not be easy to show the complete setup in 1 photograph, so this month we are again allowing three photographs and collages.

Here are this month's rules:
  1. You can submit 3 photographs for this contest. Collages are okay.
  2. They must be your own picture.
  3. Pictures shared in previous contests are not eligible.
  4. Minimally edited photos only. No effects or filters. Cropping is okay.
  5. The winner will be the entry with the highest number of thumbs up (likes) votes.
  6. Only votes from members with at least 5 posts will count.
  7. Members who have won within the past three months are not eligible for prizes but you can still enter.
  8. This contest is open internationally with an alternate prize for the winner.
This month's prize from Matt and Leah at the FlytrapStore is a Venus Flytrap 'Low Giant'.
Image
From the FlytrapStore website:
Low Giant is well named. It is a vigorous grower, but the leaves remain low to the ground all during the growing season, unlike most Venus Flytraps that grow more upright during the warmer period of Summer. This prostrate type of growth tends to look neater and more sturdy than the thinner, more upright growth on other Venus Fly Traps. Low Giant is a large plant with extra-large traps. The traps of Low Giant are very large, among the largest of all Venus Flytraps, and the plants can be very colorful.
So get the cameras rolling and show us what you have going on indoors!

Since I failed to get an entry in time last month I figured I would start this month out. First pic is Grow Tent 1 which contains seeds being germinated and any newer plant(s) that are newly potted up. Second pic is Grow Tent 2 which contains 1 year old seedlings that will be going to outdoor greenhouse very soon. Pic 3 is my indoor Greenhouse which contains some VFT's that will be going out soon, Drosera's that do not require dormancy, my one Heli, one Nep, one Ceph and bagged plants.

Here is my setup. First up is a 20 gallon aquarium for my helis and cephs, as well as anything else I toss in there that sits on my desk. It is lit by a Yescom 225 white and Uallhome 200W light from Amazon.

Next up is my grow tent (laid on its side) that houses seedlings, plants in need of intensive care, and those that require high humidity. It is lit with 1 Yescomm blue/white, 1 Yescomm white, and 1 Uallhome lights.

And finally is my main grow space for indoor plants. It is a 2x4x6 shelf from Costco. The top shelf is for nepenthes and is lit with 2 Harbor Freight shop lights. The remaining three shelves are lit with 2 Yescomm white lamps each. The reflective material is an emergency blanket to reflect some of the light and to protect the walls from moisture.

We're off to a slow start this month in our photo contest. Only three entries so far, and they are all tied with 2 votes each:
andynorth 2
NyctoNewts 2
Panman 2

I know there are more of you growing plants inside! Please share pictures of what you have, even if it isn't super high tech. We'd love to see it!

Indoor setup - Tank with Neps
Windowsill setup - grow lights to make up for not enough sunlight. Been clearing up that space to get seeds started.

Two weeks remaining in our photo contest and here are the current standings:
NyctoNewts 4
andynorth 3
JenCooper 3
Optique 3
Panman 3
cpgrower126 1
Hollyhock 1

There is still plenty of time to join the contest. You don't need to have an extravagant set up, a ping on a sunny windowsill will do. We want to see your photos.

All the lights used were found on Amazon for a cheap price and they do the job.
