This showed up a couple of weeks ago. It is in a pot that has been planted for two years. It doesn't look like any sundew I have ever grown. It has a lavender flower. Definitely not a filiformis.

I thought serpens also. What is really messing with me is that I haven't had any of the indica complex anywhere. And then this shows up two weeks ago. I suppose it could have lied dormant in the moss for a couple of years.

I'd also say Byblis liniflora, not Drosera. Close up photo of an open flower would be helpful to confirm.

You can, but in all honesty I would just leave it. If I’m seeing correctly, you have some Sarracenia seedlings in the same pot, yes? The Byblis Shouldn’t outcompete them if that’s what you’re worried about. And instead is more likely to catch Some of the fungus gnats that would otherwise try to set up shop on the soil.

Byblis seeds can remain dormant for quite a long time. If you’ve had Byblis seeds before or plants that went to seed before, then it’s possible some of the seeds fell on the media and have simply lain dormant this whole time. Same can be said if you are reusing some media or received seedlings of some other cp from someone else which came along with some media included. (That’s actually how I started growing Byblis liniflora and Drosera hartmeyerorum years ago.)

Yeah, the byblis seeds must have been dormant in some live sphagnum that came with the sarr that used to be in that pot. What you see now are what remains of the original paint after rhizome rot and volunteers. It has gone one summer and two winters before it decided to sprout.

Well, it is definitely producing seed. The first pod popped, and I put the seed back into the container. I'll probably harvest the rest and try actually growing it intentionally.
