So there appears to be traps growing out of an old flower stalk sticking out of the plant.

What am I looking at? My intuition tells me there's no way it's a seperate plant and instead is the flower stalk being extra silly

Seriously, I think it's just a weird mutation.

Input anyone?

Edit: well, I see, what do you know? It's happened before here. "false vivipary". I was familiar with the term before but I thought it was referring to when the flower stock starts growing really weird. Evidently I still have more to learn. What a weird mutation.

This definitely isn't a rhizome right? Like it almost looks like a plant growing out of a flower stalk.

Yes, it's false vivipary. It's not too uncommon and can be very neat. Simply cut the stalk about one half inch above and below the new plant, nestle it into some fresh media, and you have yourself another plant.
