Very hard to say from a pic. Your best bet is to cut away every part of the rhizome that is not white and as firm as a carrot. Where you can see the rot creeping up, it doesn't look good.

all of the bottom is brown, ive cut away as much as i can but its brown where the roots connect, otherwise the roots are fine. should i just leave it and see if it comes back?

If the entire interior of the rhizome is brown, it's gone.

okay, as theyre goners ive thrown both out as theres no point of return, the roots came right off

can you reuse the soil if you rinse it out first or no?

what is that media? i see you are in EU but that looks like wood chips like a potting soil may have.

i love the part 7:35 - 8:05 i just want to crop that and put it on repeat.

the “nutrients” sounded REALLY iffy but i flushed it all out loads and my vfts and cape sundews are doing well in it after 4 whole weeks

"Nutrient-Rich Composted Bark: featuring fine composted bark" alone sounds like it would kill it.

also some of the reviews says it kills flytraps

Can you get coco coir where you are? That's a good nutrient poor peat substitute.

im not very sure, i probably could but ive heard theres issues with salt content and i simply just dont have the time to rinse it over and over and over again, ive considered sphagnum moss but its expensive in bulk

im looking for something that works across a range of different carni plants, is accessible easily and is affordable to get in bulk but i just dont think anything like that exists yet

ive been looking into alternatives and ive heard “moorland gold” mentioned a few times here and there, does anyone have experience with this? and is there a specific type of it thats suitable for carnivores or is there just one variety of it?
