Any tips on when the gemmae will be ready to collect? They’ve developed quite rapidly over the past four or five days.

Touching the center of the Gemmae cluster will cause them to explode and fly in all directions when they're ripe and ready. (So touch them carefully )
They can easily end up over a foot away from the mother-plant.
My Scorp Gemmae tend to turn reddish right before they're ready to launch.
As always, this is only my 02¢ worth and YMMV. (Your Mileage May Vary)

You might also try gently prodding one of the large exterior gemmae with a wet toothpick. If it is ready, it will detach easily.

Thanks for the tip. I did see “spring loaded” mentioned in many references to gemmae 8)
