Again There are spider mites on my S.maroon and propably to the others too. I can see a lot more than before but I don’t see any webs yet. These mites are white and smaller than the red ones. Today for some reason they moved a lot faster. They moved faster than thrips. The don’t seem to cause a lot of damage, maybe a little bit of discoloring spots on the leaves. They recovered from the drowning from the summer showers I gave them. The question is: Can I put the whole pot in a bucket of distilled water for 24 hours or there is danger of the plant rotting? I know that dormant sarracenias can rot but mine for some reason doesn’t appear to have gone dormant. It only grows smaller pitchers and slower. It hasn’t produced phyllodia or those underdeveloped leaves that look like some kind of animal scales and protect the crown. I know for sure that my S.purpurea has gone dormant because of these scaly leaves. The good thing is that those spider mites HATE water.
