September marks the end of summer. Do you know what else it marks? The anniversary of The Flytrap Store! @Matt and Leah are marking the thirteenth anniversary of the Flytrap Store. To celebrate the anniversary, and to celebrate the hobby we love so much, this month's contest topic is going to be wide open. This month, show us your best carnivorous plant photo. It can be a specimen plant, a bog, flower, seedling, photo of art work, even a failure. Whatever you want to share, it just needs to be carnivorous plant related.

So here are the rules:
1. It must be your own picture
2. You can only submit one photo for this contest
3. Pictures shared in previous contests are not eligible
4. The winner will be the entry with the highest number of thumbs up votes
5. This contest is open internationally, although there will be an alternate prize for international winners

I am super excited to announce that we have nailed down the prize for this month's contest. To celebrate the Flytrap Store's thirteenth anniversary, @Matt is offering up a plant from his personal collection. This month's winner will receive a Sarracenia alabamensis!

For those of you who don't know, S. alabamensis is on the endangered species list and it is not legal to be sold across state lines. The only way to get one is to find it for sale in your state, drive to another state to get one, or win one in a contest. I was lucky enough to get mine that way and I am excited that someone else will be able to grow this relatively unknown pitcher plant.

So get out those phones (no one uses cameras anymore, right?) and get your best carnivorous plant shot! I can't wait to see what everyone has.

Gorgeous! Get another good photo of that beauty. I have it on good authority that your own seed grown plant will be the category of an upcoming contest!

Happy anniversary FTS and the best wishes for the future of the business!

Here's the best ever color I have ever achieved on a VFT(it's a baby 'Jaws' division):

Lit up in the cold.jpg
This plant was nothing noteworthy during the summer, but when the weather cooled off, it just lit up.
Wowza! I thought that was an FTS Maroon Monster for a sec :D

We got these seeds a while back, but nobody could seem to get germination. The donor sent some seeds just for me, and I forgot about them until late spring. Once the temps hit 80°F and the RH was 60% or above, I saw a few little sprouts.
Now, not to toot my own horn, but I may be the only person in the US with this location data...
Drosera capillaris (Bertioga, Brazil).

Now to hopefully get seeds to spread the love.

As I repotted this G-16 (bought from Matt and Leah), I turned to my wife and asked her, if we were to marry again, would she walk down the aisle with this bouquet?

She stared blankly at me.

She later said she would permit it as a center piece. ...
