The vast majority of species are self-incompatible (primarily reproducing through gemmae) and seed is very difficult to sprout. D. ommisa is an exception, as that species frequently self-pollinates and isn’t very hard to germinate. Pygmy seed has a relatively long lifespan when stored at cooler temperatures.
