And I always prefer hard copy to digital!
I like hard copies but I also like digital. I can read easier in bed :D :D
I’ve just started reading novels on my phone through my library with Hoopla and Libby. I do really like that I can read in bed without my husband thrashing around and making disapproving noises (as he is wont to do when I have a book and a light), but I find that I retain more of what I read when I have a physical copy in front of me. So while I’m flexible on the matter, I prefer physical copies of reference books.

Too small for me. I have a 10 inch cheapy tablet I bought just for those times. I have Kindle reader on it with several books in my library, including Savage Gardens. Not enough CP books are digital though, IMO.

I am the opposite. I seem to pay more attention and my mind does not wander as much :D :D

I certainly get that. I like being able to mark up books. On the other hand, I do like digital for being able to do searches without flipping through page after page and also being able to increase pic and word sizes.

Good deal! Maybe he’ll give you a discount on your next purchase.

Sorry, I know we're getting WAY off topic here, but goodreads(.com) is an easy place to keep track of what you've read, what you thought of it, what you want to read, the books on your shelf, etc. You can also follow or friend other readers, which makes it kind of like social media for readers.

My CP's of NA and Can showed up today and I am very satisfied with it. Aside from the paper cover being worn on one edge, the hard back book is in excellent condition. I will definitely buy from Abe Books again.

Second book, brand new copy of Pitcher Plants of the Americas. Just thumbing through the pages and I already LOVE this book. It has photos, lots of photos!!! Not that they are the most important part of the book but it makes reading it that much more enjoyable. I would however pay a premium for a digital version. To be able to zoom the photos would be awesome. Less than $35.00 spent on one excellent condition used hard cover and one brand new paperback! Merry Christmas to me :D :D

The more I read the 2 books I bought, the happier I am that I purchased. Many of my questions have been answered just from semi reading each book. I will usually thumb through the interesting parts before diving in and reading the entire book. Although I also enjoy growing drosera, my main interest lies in Pitcher plants. I like how the Pitcher Plants of the Americas book covers pretty much every aspect of them. I highly recommend, especially if you enjoy Pitcher plants.

I read the McPherson book today (Pitcher Plants of the Americas), and even though it was drier reading than say, The Savage Garden, I really enjoyed it. The abundance of gorgeous photos was a major plus. Now I need to flip back through and find all the things I want to add to my wishlist. :D

I seem to be taking longer. I am just now at the Heliamphora section. I usually end up falling asleep reading them! I have been going back and forth between the 2 I have and my digital books I also have.

I just read this one straight through (except the index and most of the bibliography), and I haven’t started the Schnell book yet. Maybe today.
I liked that he used H. pulchella for all the photos illustrating the effects of different light/growing conditions, first because it’s the prettiest one imo, and second because it’s dramatic coloring made it a good choice to show those changes.
There is some unnecessary repetition of facts and phrases, and there are both spelling errors and a few incorrect statements, but this is still an excellent book, especially when you consider that McPherson wrote it from ages 16-22. I wish his other books were affordable, but as it is, I doubt I’ll ever own another.
