I don't need to see an adult flytrap, I have plenty of my own.

Take a picture of the hitchhiker! Zoom out so we can see the actual plant. I'm curious, because Mosser Lee harvests their sphagnum moss from wisconsin bogs. It will be very interesting to see what they are pulling out of the wild.

I use Better-Gro. I’m guessing that there’s better, and I should probably microwave it or something. My VFTs so far have absolutely loved it even tho that grass whatever is always springing up. It’s so easy to pull anyhow.

I have that issue also with Better-Gro. I thought it was me. If you do not catch them they will get very long roots and can become a nuisance when growing seedlings. I am wondering what would cause this but maybe should start nuking mine also. I clean it very well but I did not think it was from the LFSM as I some times mix my older LFSM in with new stuff.

Challenge # 16:
After I finished my greenhouse I faced a bit of a dilemma. I had lots of room but nothing to place my plants on except a couple shelves from last years garage dormancy. They filled up very fast and I was already over budget and tables are not cheap. Solution? I had cinder blocks that were originally used for my water barrel to set on but I put gravel down for that so I used those and old cat litter buckets along with pieces of wood which have been in my garage for years. So it cost me nothing to rig up some tables.

This planting table is made from a refrigerator door and pallets, plus some lath strips for the hanging rack across the top. It cost no money, since I already had screws and lath, and my hubby brought the rest home from work.

Oops, I forgot about that. Yup, it got sprayed with a clear coat of water sealant. I probably did have to buy a can or two of that.

This is my Nepenthes Desk Tank. I found the tank for free at a garage sale, and the lights for one dollar as well. For the back and sides, I wrapped cardboard in aluminum foil, and taped it to the sides of the tank, except the viewing side. I then use Saran Wrap on the top, as the tank did not come with a lid. This results in great color, and healthy fast growing nepenthes due to the humidity. Just remember to fertilize or feed them, as they can't catch any food on their own because the tank won't have openings. For germination and growing smaller nepenthes, this is a great setup you can make, for cheap.

Challenge #16:

This is my attempt at hydroponic lettuce. I used one bottle for this, cut off the top half, stuck it in the bottom half, put a cube of rockwool in the top half with the seeds, wrapped a long fluffy string around the rockwool to absorb nutrient water, and it grew. Not very fast compared to regular lettuce, but I suppose it worked.

Here's a trellis that I made for some gourd plants. This was a picture from spring, the trellis has since partially collapsed under the weight of a couple dozen gourds. But, I'm sure this trellis design would work if you were planting something less heavy, such as peas...
It was made from tree branches that I cut down from the tree in the upper left hand corner (not in focus). I used some cheap string to tie it together.

Looks great! Do you need to do anything for air circulation?
