Hello,
When I bought my venus fly trap, it is super tiny, each about less than an inch or smaller at the moment.

After doing some research, I was going to replant it into a bigger pot as the one it's in seems to be very cramped for it. I have a spare pot I was going to use and it does have a drainage hole that I would like to bottom water.

It has a single drainage hole at the bottom of the pot and it's a flat bottom. I'm worried that the water won't go up into the pot with this flat bottom. Should I look into getting another pot with side/corner vents to allow water to get in or is this flat bottomed one ok? Should I prop the pot up with something in the water dish to make sure water gets into the drain hole?

Assuming the pot is plastic you could drill holes around the side. I often do that with takeout soup containers. If you don't have a drill a soldering iron works well. Could also hold a nail with some pliers and heat the nail with a lighter. When hot push it through the sides.

Some of my large pots (8+ inches) don't have many drain holes in them. This is why I bought some step bits for my drill:

This is a quick and easy way to add drain holes of any size to pots and planters.
