I had visited Lowe’s right after work, at about 6 am they had opened. I was eager to go there for a while, so I did. That was for one reason, to check for deathcubes. I found a whole bunch of them, most of them on their way out, while 3 of them had good health, or just had caught my eye in a way. I got them home, took them out of the comically tiny "pots" that they had them in, and especially the well known plastic "prisons" that we all know that kills them. I gave all three rhizomes that had been planted the tough love treatment; full sun, a new pot with the same media, but rinsed thoroughly with distilled water, then sat them in a stainless saucer with ~1.5 inches of distilled water. They had burned almost all of the leaves, the traps, along with some new growth that was light starved from sitting on a dark shelf for who knows how long, by the two days mark. They are starting to grow more and more after sitting in the nice Houston sun, they are getting more pigmentation on new growth, along with the traps that made it through. I’m going to let this plant go dormant, considering it takes a good while for it to get "cold" in Texas, it’ll be around late November before things start cooling down for sure. the first picture has another bowl that I had originally thought would be okay, but it was a bit overkill, so I had swapped it for the stainless dish like mentioned above.

I bought 4 from a local grocery discount store. $4.99 each and they looked healthy and are doing well. They actually had them in full sun for a while and recently moved them indoors to die a slow death. I keep checking to see if they lowered prices but not yet.

They never seem to carry them around here. Walmart did a few years back but have not seen them in a while.
They usually have them in stock in the springtime or early fall. I used to work for Walmart, and I don’t recommend it to anyone who is looking for a job, worst experience ever.

However, it is growing pretty quick now, I think it’s going to take awhile for new traps to fully form, every new plant from hardware stores seem to have a slow start. Cp grower, those are some nice traps! They do get redder than any other typical imo, I’ve had a couple from online websites, just wasn’t too impressed so I sold them, and plus I was in the process of moving to Houston (where I’m at now) I had a lot of losses in the process of getting there. I had just got a job about a month ago. my plants have been growing quicker since I’ve moved here, I have had enough to buy some fertilizer for my other non carnivores, and I have to keep buying distilled water, I might as well just look into a Zero Water pitcher. The tap water here is better than the coast, it reads 208ppm from the tap, I don’t even have a water softener installed. Lowe’s and Home Depot carry some plants that need nurturing & a lil’ tlc. Hardware stores kind of remind me of animal shelters, but with plants, you take them in, take care of them, then you love them forever. I’m done using grow lights, and I’m never using the window sill. I do have a slight problem with mealy bugs, scale, and caterpillars here, but I’ll immediately buy bio advanced 3in1 if I see an issue.

Also does the "houseplant" version of bio advanced work on flytraps?

Horrible management, as well as their insurance. They have employees that will only be there for a year at most, due to the fact that they have a "rating system" at the self checkout area. if you don’t get five stars on their self checkout or if the customer forgets you get chewed out, and it can result in termination. Most of the co workers I had worked with were on something because of how the managers treated them daily, they treat disabled employees like they’re a joke. It’s a good pay amount, but it’s really not worth the stress, and the chaos around you.

Yes sir, I call it "Houston" because it isn’t too far from it, and it is considered to be "linked" to it. Galveston isn’t too far, I plan to go there to fish when I’m not working. It’s nice to see a local on this forum. Image

That would honestly be the most interesting experience to come up upon. I’m 2-3 minutes away from Kroger’s, I have a pond near by that I had broke my fishing pole in… my house is flooded with plants, hard to miss to be honest. Image

I also live a few minutes away from a Kroger. Is yours next to a Chinese restaurant?

The 888? I’m like 7-8 mins away from it, Yeah. I had some good chicken fried rice from there, I work at the jack-in-the-box off of 646 rd. It’s a good enough job for a 21 year old.
