Has anyone tried Bee Safe 3-in-1 Garden Spray on Sarracenia?

I've sprayed twice for spider mites and am seeing some damage on my Sarracenia (not on my flytraps though).

I've attached some photos of the damage. Please note that these pitchers were undamaged before I sprayed. I sprayed during cloudy days near dusk and am using the concentration listed on the bottle.

Does anyone have experience with this product?

Definitely looks like chemical burn. While unsightly, it probably isn't going to kill the plant.

Thanks Panman. I was afraid of that. Is there a list of approved treatments for our plants? I know Matt and Leah support Avid for mites on flytraps. Seems like Bee Safe 3-in-1 is good for flytraps as well but not for Sarracenia.

The only one that I know of from personal experience are Bioadvanced 3-in-1 (used to be Bayer) and Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew. Pretty much all of my plants tolerate Captain Jack's well. The Bioadvanced is stronger. Sarrs and Neps have never seemed to have problems with it. Flytraps seemed to slow down and sundews definitely pouted.

From the manufacturer's web page, Technical section:

Warning & Toxicities: Organocide may stain concrete or clothing. Although Organocide has an unusually high degree of safety for most plants, some plants in the Euphorbia family (Crown of Thorns, Poinsettia) have shown sensitivity. We recommend testing a small area of foliage on these plants to determine sensitivity.

Will NOT harm bees, butterflies, or ladybugs.

Active Ingredients/Guaranteed Analysis:
0.08%..........Sesame Oil

Other Ingredients:
99.92%..........Lecithin, Edible Fish Oil, Potassium Sorbate, Water


I seriously doubt the manufacturer tested this stuff on any carnivorous plants. Apparently, Sarracenia also fall under the "have shown sensitivity" category.

I could see how the oil might be damaging? If wet in daylight hours and exposed to sunshine?

I've not heard of sesame as a horticultural oil, but (to be honest) I'm not well versed in oils on carnivorous plants - they tolerate so few pest treatments. If flytrapcare (Matt and Leah) support Avid for mites, I'd go with their recommendation. Another resource I've used is Sarracenia NW Insecticides for Carnivorous Plants (although I'm not sure if they address spider mites) - look for their YouTube video on Safe Insecticides for Carnivorous Plants.

Man. I'm dragging *way* more than normal. I didn't get much sleep last night and just inhaled my first cup of coffee when I read your post, Mike. The first line in the Warnings and Toxicities, read like this to me..."Organocide may contain concrete or clothing...". And I read right on through it, kinda wondering about it but figuring they were recycling things, somehow, somewhere, maybe in another dimension (which I think I'm in). Something made me go back and read it again and it made more sense to me. Now, off to my second cup to see if it helps!
