This is more of a discussion topic than an actual problem. My N. macfarlanei puts out three basal shoots and they all make pitchers, but the main growing point has slowed almost to a standstill and the leaves that come out on top don't pitcher. I understand that the plant is putting its energy into these basals, so I was wondering if I could remedy the situation by cutting off the main stem and rooting it like a normal cutting. Granted, it would still not grow until it made new roots, but it should do so after that. So probably a few months?

Is it even worth it? If I'll leave it be, the plant might start to grow and make pitchers anyway.

What would you do?

I would probably make cuttings out of it. You said that the main growth has stopped pitchering/growing? I bet that cutting it would snap it back into action. Plus the three basal’s would almost positively boost up in growth because of the large root ball the main growth left behind. I wouldn’t count on the main growth pitchering too soon.
