I've met Kirk. He is a really great guy with some very nice plants. I didn't watch his video; I'm too tired. But his plants are spectacular so what he dies must work.

Given a choice, I prefer to do the pitcher fertilization method. By putting MaxSea in the pitchers, the plants absorb the nutrients just like they would from digesting insects.

The one problem that I've had with the tray fertilization method is algae bloom. Algae are plants too, and they will suck up the fertilizer and make a slimy green mess in the trays. I put the fertilizer mix in a spray bottle and do a couple squirts at the base of each plant.
