I’m finding that the temperature where I’m keeping my plants plummets when the lights turn off at night. Even with a small auxiliary electric heater. Coming up on these next five or so days of super-low temperatures I’m thinking of changing my lighting times and length.

I’m thinking of going from 14 hours a day to 18 hours a day. Also shifting the “off” period of six hours to be in the middle, warmest part of the day…say from 10am to 4pm.

Basically the plants would never see complete darkness and instead have six hours of dim ambient light during the day.

This would create heat for the coldest part of the days.

It’s kind of a survival tactic that could be returned to the previous state once this deep freeze is gone. Any thoughts on messing with the photoperiod like this?
