Can anyone help me with how to go about mounting some utric sandersoni onto my lava rocks please? It came in a pot with a couple of little sundews, can I also put them on there as well? My issue is how to go about getting it out of this pot without hurting the roots too much & how much of it should I take out, do I need to keep some of the soil that it’s in and put on the rock as well? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Yes, that is definitely a concern. It could definitely live on one, I've seen it done. I would recommend attaching a few medium sized ones to create a ring, or just drilling/breaking a hole or dent into a large one. I would set a little hole or mound filled with sphag (preferably dead, live ones would compete with the utrics) into the rock.

Feeding is an issue, you could technically spray the substrate with a little ferts, but i don't really know what else to do.The rock would not support the organisms, as Gary said. Maybe springtails.

I wouldn't worry much about root damage, division is very easy.

U sandersonii it pretty tolerant. If you have a shallow dish with .5-1” of water just put it in the water and it will do it’s thing. If you have a deeper container try to make a little ledge near the rock to start it on or fill a section with pumice or small lava rocks.

The pic with dragon stone has a pumice substrate and the water level is usually 1/2” below the substrate. Occasionally I flood it. The utrics made a nice carpet and are starting to climb the rocks.

The pic with the square tray is something I tore apart recently to remove some gross moss that had taken over. The sandersonii is what I picked out of the mess (in shreds) and threw in the water to try to save. It’s literally just floating in a little water and still putting out new flower stalks.
