Hey everyone,

How do I make my D. scorpioides to produce gemmae? I only have one plant so I want more! I think it's fall when they make gemmae and I don't want to miss my chance. Also, when do pygmy sundews flower? They need excessive heat to do so, right?

(face palm emoji) I was on here when I turned on my computer. Didn't even think to check Google lol  I'm so brain dead.

Do you think I could move it to a lower shelf that receives less light and that will work?

I grow Drosera scorpioides with a subtropical photoperiod, N-33.58 Deg. W-87.875 Deg. (BainsKloof RSA latitude, reversed and my longitude.)
If I wanted better verisimilitude, I'd have a separate zone set for Western Australia's latitude and my own longitude.
Gemmae typically show up between Thanksgiving and New Year when the days are short and the temperatures are cool.
They are ready to harvest when you gently touch one and it pops off and rockets away.

I looked at my old scorpioides flower pictures. They were mostly taken in April, so it looks like a Spring flowering plant.

Mine live in west windows. They make gemmae in November or December. Without fail. Cooler fall temps in the house and longer nights do it.

A little gemmae tip.
When it comes to D. scorpioides, it is worth separating them carefully, because they can jump away really far.
