Yes, live moss. I'll check out etsy and a few other places. I know we have lots of mosses around here "in the wild" but I'm not sure I've ran into sphagnum.

@Panman, thanks for the recommendation on the Bettergro Orchid Moss. It would be nice to have a mulch over the peat/perlite mix to help with rain splatter and evaporation/cooling.

I just grow it in my pots as a top dressing. Makes for a good indicator when the pots are too dry, as well. No special care needed after that honestly.

Genius! I'm now seriously considering chopping down every tree in my yard and my neighbors yards! That would be a small price to pay to get rid of those destructive fiends!

How much moss are you looking for? I have several containers of live sphagnum that I need to sell off (gotta do a for-sale post this weekend...). I grow it outdoors in eastern North Carolina, so it should do just fine in southern Alabama.
