Hi there ping growers,

Any one have P. 'Pirouette' with veining on its petals like this?
I started this as a leaf pulling, but failed to put a tag in the pot. (Oh, I'll remember. Yeah right!)I'm 80+% sure that it is a Pirouette.

As I said, this was a leaf pulling, so I have a tagged Pirouette to compare this to. But I haven't seen as distinct veining on those flowers - which should be the same plant. Here's the plant in a pot with a tag in it (taken in June a few years ago):
And a picture from last September - plant in the shade, so bloom looks a little more lavender, but I recall it being pink and a little veining visible, but not as pronounced:
Now - I KNOW that pings can show color and shape morphs in their blooms depending on growing conditions. So, maybe that's what is going on. I haven't yet had both plants in bloom at the same time, so am wondering if any one has seen their Pirouette resemble my first pic up there...

I wish mine was flowering I have a pirrouette but not flowering since I got it a month ago. How long did yours take to flower?

I'll have to go back and check - usually pings flower within the first year I have them, but there have been exceptions!

I went back and looked and turns out I don't have a good pic of a flower either lol. From what I remember it started off darker and would fade to a flower like that over time. Only pic I have of one is with my old byblis plants. Hope it helps

Ah - thank you for even taking the trouble to look for a bloom pic. A bit hard to tell from the angle, but I don't see a ton of veining on the outer petals - so more like pics 2 and 3 in my post. Looks like that was a December flower ... but, given your growing conditions, I feel like that would be DEFINITELY warmer than my pic taken earlier this year.

Keep the seasonal pics coming folks ... this gets curiouser.

Not a Pirouette, but my emarginata x jaumavensis has some nice veining on the petals.

I know - such a great hybrid - mine just bloomed for the first time! Pirouette is supposed to be a cross between P. agnata x P. moranensis, so no fun emarginata veining.

Mystery continues....

Hmmm. I also have an agnata x emarginata and a moranensis x Yucca do 1717 up in my wife's office. One bloomed already, then calmed down, but I remember some good veining there too. I'll have to watch fo them to perform.

Edit: Nevermind, found it. Agnata "Red Leaf" x emarginata. Shows much more veining, so maybe from the agnata?

I was going to say that it was probably still from the emarginata in your agnata RL hybrid, but found an agnata RL x gigantea flower pic online that made me curious. I don't think of agnatas or gigantea as being 'veined' ... but maybe that bit of flower vasculature could be darkened when crossed with a pink flower like the moranensis (or gigantea) parent in the mentioned crosses. Interesting...
