I happen to find some flytraps at Walmart today. I am new to the game so didn’t really need to or intend to buy anymore for a while, but this one stood out to me. The color caught me first and foremost, but then I also noticed there is a teeny tiny baby growing with it. I was so happy to find 2 for 1! I got it home and took it out of the small plastic tube that it came in and I was even more ecstatic about the beautiful coloration! I had to share what I see as a great find. Hope y’all agree! Also, if anyone has a guess to the type that it is I’d be happy to know. My inexperienced guess is B52 but that’s just going from pictures. I will be repotting tomorrow by the way so don’t fret about the size of the pot it came in!

Very beautiful flytrap! And I like how the stem gets thinner near the base of the trap.

Why do Walmart flytraps always seem so healthy and colorful even in their conditions?

Most Wally World VFT's are from Rocket Farms, and they put out some nice colors. However, as to the cultivar, unless it was sold as a named cultivar by a reputable seller, it's a typical. A very nice typical, but a typical nonetheless.

Yes, what he said.
I think you may find a typical that looks like traits a particular cultivar has, but my understanding is that unless you have documentation that it is a clone of B-52 for example, you just have a typical. Mutations and recessive traits come out sometimes. Doesn’t mean it’s the registered cultivar though… make sense?

A lot of different traits also just come from plain old differences in growing conditions. The amount of light, the humidity, and probably even other things like soil acidity or how much feeding it gets all contribute to changes in morphology.

That being said, that looks like an absolutely beautiful plant. I haven't seen one with such a long spacing between the trap and the leaf. It reminds me of the Kayan cultivar.
