Ping Growth Pattern

I've been meaning to post this for awhile. I've got several gypsicola hybrids and they all "unfurl" their new leaves. more or less. I think this one is the prettiest and most interesting, by far.

P. site 1 #2 x P. gypsicola

That's kind a neat. I've seen this in another gypsicola hybrid as well.

That is a great cross - really nice plant!

I find this growth habit super endearing! I see it in my P. heterophylla x medusina x gigantea.

And I've also seen pictures of P. 'Marciano' (P. medusina x (moranensis x ehlersiae)) that appear to have this 'unfurling' habit.

I'd love to get my hands on a P. medusina someday. As the 'curly-tipped' growth is evident from pictures. I've at least started seeing them for sale, but I'm probably going to have to wait until they are a little more readily available.

I agree that P. medusina is really interesting but, yeah, I'm not spending $50 on it.

Well, @evenwind is in the ballpark, if you include shipping. I've only seen it available US retail through Curious Plant.

A bit outside my plant budget at the moment.

Ha - yes, you got me there! :D

I thought of another gypsicola hybrid, with a fun growth habit. This is sethos x gypsicola - and I think the way the leaves 'uncurl' is fun to watch.

Agreed. And it's a pretty plant.

We got off to a rough start, but once the kinks were ironed out - mostly getting the small plant through my less than ideal winter growing setup - it's been a very easy grower.
