The gist of this is that N. macfarlanei got split up into 3 species. What will be known as N. macfarlanei going forward is not currently in cultivation, just like with the N. fusca split a while back. Most cultivated plants come from the Genting Highlands area, including all TC clone lines that I'm aware of, are N. ulukaliana going forward, and some newer plants from the Cameron Highlands area that have often been suspected to be hybrids are N. sericea. If you aren't sure where your plants came from, they're easy to tell apart from the pitchers and there's some handy photos in the paper linked above.
