my plant is starting to dry out

It's autumn now, and it seems like my plant is starting to dry out. Am I right in thinking that it is going into dormancy for the winter? How can I distinguish between dormancy and something being wrong with the plant? Are there any additional steps I should take to ensure my plant stays healthy?
Thank you.

I'm sure many would like to be help, but we aren't psychic. Dry as in the media? Humor? On the wagon? Very low humidity? The plant itself is crispy?
A pic would be the best thing for others to see, so we don't have to strain ourselves trying to read your mind.
