My older laptop's hinges were breaking off and that meant I needed to buy a new laptop. After doing so, I wanted to log into my Flytrap Care Forums account but forgot my password. Well, after trying a few times I found the password from my old laptop and proceeded to login. But a message in red comes up saying: "you exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to pass the CAPTCHA test".

What do I do at this point? I don't see anywhere to do the CAPTCHA test and I'm not familiar with this issue. My username is correct and I'm asking this question through my phone, which is the only way to access my account right now, but I prefer the laptop way.

Ahh, did this to me on terra forum’s once. Came back the next day and all was fine. Not sure if it was shutting off the computer or just the length time but all was fine the next day.

What browser are you using? Can you try a different one like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge?

I use Chrome, so tried Edge and it did the same thing. If I delete my cookies/history, would that work?

You can try. I'm not sure why you can't see the Captcha screen.

I waited until the next day to see if that'll work and it didn't. This has been an issue for about a month now.

The only thing I can suggest is to Google captcha not working and follow some of the steps there.

I'll do that then see what I can do. Whenever I get this issue fix I'll post an update. Thanks for helping!

Check your browser settings to see if pop ups are being blocked. If the captcha is trying to open as a pop up window and being blocked some browsers show a tiny icon in the url (address) bar that you can click and allow it to open

Didn't we have this problem before when FTC Forums switched to the new format? This was happening all the time, but was fixed soon after.

I spend my days fixing strange things that happen on people's computers. I try not to do this after work because I've already had my fill of it, but I'm not going to leave someone hanging. I went to Google and searched on this:

The problem appears to be related to enhanced anti-spammer measures on the server's end, and I may have found a quick fix. Who has admin rights on the user list? Please edit septembersapphire21's account and change the login attempts field to zero. Notify septembersapphire21 that you did this, and ask them to try logging in from the laptop now.

If this doesn't work, I'll have to do some more digging (and contact Matt about any recent changes to the board's software).
