Good news! The ventrata doesn't look any worse for wear. I told you this thing is indestructible. I will give it a couple of weeks to recuperate and then make the cuttings.

It looks like I will be able to send these cuttings for you to try your hand at rooting nepenthes. Please PM me with your address by Wednesday and I will get the cuttings in the mail this weekend.

Oh yeah, the water issue got fixed.

I now have two growth points and will soon have pitchers. Thank you very much Panman. This was surprisingly very easy to grow.

I told you this plant is indestructible. These are the remnants of the cuttings that I sent out. I crushed the end of the stems (don't know if I needed to) and stuck them in water. None had growth points at the time but now all three do and the are considering putting out pitchers. I may pot up a couple of them and leave the last one in the water for an experiment.

Yep, this contest is closed, but I've got a Miranda that is begging for a haircut. It will happen sometime before it comes inside for the winter. Keep watching!

Mine has been sitting in the garage near a large window. It's been hot. It's been hot. Did I mention that it's been hot? Ok, got that. Anyhow, I just dropped the rooting pot into this hanging basket (keeps it away from the four-footed destroyers) and moved it to the edge of the garage. It is now getting probably three hours of direct sun...we're in this funky rainy/cloudy/flooding/partly-sunny cycle so the time of direct sun kind of varies. Both the rooting pot and the hanging basket drain freely so I water it at least every other day and mist it a couple of times a day...either early in the morning or in the afternoon after the sun has passed the zenith and the ventrata is getting indirect light. Anyhow, I figured the broken periods of direct sun would be good for acclimating it to the sunshine. It's hot, btw. Anyhoo...here it is, I ain't killed it yet so Panman must be correct in saying that they're indestructible. :D

ETA: I received one large cutting but after Panman's recommendation I cut the cutting in half. Both cuttings seem to be doing pretty good (still alive! ).

Looking good. Remember, ventratas, and most nepenthes are not direct sun plants. A couple of hours early in the morning and/or late in the afternoon and then dappled shade the rest of the day. Mine are growing under the branches of a hickory tree and only get the sun after about 4pm.

It was the only hook I had available to hang it from...I'm lazy. I'll look for another place, probably under an oak tree....gotta hang it where the tree rats can't get to it, though.

Ah, a stripped-down Squirrel Defense 5000!!!!! Repurposed...kinda. ;)
